The main function of counseling couples is that the problems from both the individuals are presented together in front of the therapist. This helps both the individuals to know/understand the “other side of the story ” as well as the “ other person’s perspective”.\r\n
It involves finding out about the history of the problem, hurdles in the communication, facilitating conversation and each partner’s contribution to the relationship and the conflict.\r\n
The therapist designs customized homework for the couple after each session depending on the case and a subsequent discussion on the same during the next session. It is observed that often while individuals are focusing on their homework’s, that they find answers to their own issues for which the couple has been seeking assistance.\r\n
The couples’ counseling sessions are full of different activities, which are pertaining to the various therapies that are used, such as family Choreography, role-plays and use of solution focused therapy principles.
